If Ryan Reynolds doesn't win the Academy Award for this there is no justice. Being like most people, that is, at least a little claustrophobic, I found the first 20 minutes or so fairly gruesome but then the drama of the story and Reynolds superb performance got me looking for a whole lot of other reasons. The betrayals and the indifference he encounters is entirely too imaginable in this world we've built for ourselves, and there is no John Wayne to ride to our rescue - we've put in place too much bureaucracy for that sort of thing to happen anymore. Or perhaps audiences have become far too sophisticated (jaded? ) to accept that sort of scenario from playing out in a film of this kind. In any event, the mid class bureaucrat that is now the object of worship and emulation in our society is also the banal face of evil: evil here being the type that isolates and weakens the individual for the profit and success of the corporation. Enron's rolling blackouts for profit just can't cover the topic as well as telling the story of one, poor, average man in the worst imaginable situation. I found that aspect of the film most chilling. Paul Conroy is as he says he is," I'm just a guy, I'm not a soldier, not Blackwater, just a guy!" has political and moral connotations throughout the film. At first he rails against the "terrorists" then he tries to reason with them by appealing to their humanity. In the end he's just a victim of not only a kidnapping, but of being discarded by his own government whose agenda does not include ordinary people who do the hard work everyday. He is US, one of the victims of forces beyond his control or understanding, a casualty of the greed, lust, stupidity and hubris of American foreign policy - only one of the many millions who have suffered, and continue to suffer, because of that policy unfortunately. This film is very well worth seeing.

One of the best acted movies (good job Ryan Reynolds), with one of the most simple but ingenious plots out there!! This could have been REALLY bad. But it was done right. This movie likely cost nothing to make... but is scores ahead of anything this year that cost millions to make. GO SEE IT.

I have given this a higher rating solely based on Ryan's performance. He does an amazing job in this film. I was never bored or not engaged while watching this movie. The director did a great job of drawing you into the situation. Not always comfortable to watch as I think most people have an aversion to small dark places, which means there will be a limited audience for this film which is too bad because it was well done and left me thinking about the outcome long after I left the theater.

The claustrophobic feeling you get watching Buried disappears for the most part after about 10 minutes, but luckily the movie entertains thoroughly for the remaining 80 or so minutes, mostly due to a series of interesting phone calls and terrifying events. Can't say much more without ruining it, but for a movie set entirely in a box, it's pretty incredible. Oscar nom for Ryan Reynolds, I say.

Loved seeing an 'outside the box', pun intended, film like this. They worked in enough suspense and great filming (angles etc..) to make it edgy and keep my interest. Also, it was great to see Ryan Reynolds in a film other than comedy. I think he pulled it off very well. Not a movie for everyone if you like fast-paced films with lots of characters interacting but for those of us who like something different, I think it delivered!

This is a hard movie to rate. It had its suspense. The best way I can put it is this. If you are depressed and want to feel even worse then this movie is for you. I am not depressed and did not like leaving the theatre with the the way I felt. This was not for me.

I thought this movie was excellent. Great acting, twists and turns, and sure the movie is in a box but it was different. And there lies the best part it tried and nailed it beutifully.

With all the buzz surronding this movie I really was looking forward to see it. But once there a was a bit disappointed by the story and the acting. I gave credit to Renolds for the effort and the fact is out of his element. But something was missing... And the ending was a huge lot down... At least this is one hollywood movie that dare to be different and orginal and I'll gave credit for that...

I really liked buried. Unfortunately when I was at the screening the general concensus was not that great. You need to know, going in to this movie, that it is a ballsy attempt to make a movie with one actor, in a box. Ryan Reynolds did a great job conveying all of the emotion he could into this role. I thought it was great, but the audience catcalls and noises made me angry with the general viewing public.

Buried was an excellent thriller. Given the confined space the movie takes place in the camera work is fantastic. Ryan Reynolds is incredible in this movie, he's a big part of the reason it works so well. The film does a great job of building tension and manipulating the audiences emotions. I really loved everything about this movie.

This movie is the perfect example of how ingenious directors manage to squeeze so much Drama out of a well, lets face it, a story about a man in a coffin. The thing is that this emotionally driven movie has Ryan renolds at his prime.

I was hoping for a more cerebral movie experience. It was very boring. The one good thing about it... it was realistic.

Buried is an unusual film. Ryan Reynolds is trapped in a coffin and the audience is placed with him for an hour and a half. Reynolds performances carries the film and you really feel his pain trying to escape. Overall, Buried is good movie. I would recommend to watch this film in the theater because the claustrophobic atmosphere comes through with the darkness and the sound. Personally when the film began I totally forgot that I was sitting with 300 people watching a film. However, I don't think you will miss much if you wait for it to come out on dvd.

Very interesting movie, it grabs your attention the entire time even though this is a one man show in an unchanged setting. Some parts were almost comical, lots of fear and suspense though. I wish there would have been more distraction at times, perhaps showing a bit of the outside world, or just anything above the coffin the guy is buried in. Overall, it's a unique genre with a superb acting performance by Ryan. And I thought this man couldn't do a movie without showing his abs! You'll be thinking about this for days to come and it'll be hard to forget. Not a must see, but worth it.

Garbage in the form of garbage. Disappointing, not the film but the people who supported the making. Not original, not terrible, this is a forgettable film so why see it in the first place? They'd need to thrown in a free t-shirt or hat for me to say anything remotely warm about this cold, detached and boring film. See at your own risk, conclusion= waste of everyone's time.

Stretching this premise to a 90 minute running time the filmmakers put up a helluva fight. Ryan Reynolds probaly gives his best performance to date in the restricted confines of this wooden coffin. The director tries to keep visual interests with dazzling camera angles within the limit constraints of this coffin. It probaly would have been more claustrophbic, disturbing and intense if the director wasn't so obsessed with Hitchcock type camera set-ups. Hitchcock did similiar experiments in films like LIFEBOAT where a group of people are stranded in a lifeboat for the entire film in the ocean. Also Hitchcock did a lot of 10 minute takes in the film ROPE. BURIED is an experimental high-concept film that just doesn't get over the finishing line even though through Reynolds performance keeps you watching at his hopelesness. The idea to BURIED can prove very difficult in maintaining a consistent level of entertainment. I just found the idea of a movie set in an entire coffin restrictive. The Danish thriller THE VANISHING, not that horrible American remake, is probaly the most disturbing film of it's type when it comes to burying someone alive. BURIED should have taken a page out of THE VANISHING and opened up the film as a ticking clock movie in war-torn sun-derenched desert Iraq trying to save Reynolds character while cutting to his nightmarish dillema in the coffin. Still this film can easily be watched on DVD.

Some highlights of the film for me included: Ryan Reldnolds' awesome performance from being in distress, to fear, anger, to hopelessness. The snake scene was chilling since they give me the willies. The soldier on the phone with Paul Conroy, his British ascent was terrific as it elevate the tone and mood of the dire situation. The twist at the end of the film was a bit surprising. Would recommend it because it's different from what's playing, to see Ryan Reldnolds' dramatic performance.

This movie is a strange one. It's visually unappetizing, however I can't tell weather I hated it or loved it! There are some really bad aspects aswell as some really good ones. For those of you with taphephobia... don't go see it!

The trailer, with all of its moving lines and visual depth, is really exciting and even suspenseful in a "Hitchcock opening sequence" kind of way. But the film just milks one claustrophobia gimmick after another, and at many points during my screening the audience tutted in disbelief. Everyone in the screening I attended audibly groaned with disappointment - the whole audience. I hadn't experienced that before, and you don't need to. Who stokes a humongous zippo flame for 1.5 hours while trapped in a coffin?!?! Ridiculous.
