A slow movie I felt they could have done so much more! Darwin came across as dull and boring.

This movie should be titled: The Ups & Downs of C. Darwin and his family. A very stupid movie for a rather remarkable subject. The main actor is sooo hard to take.

If you are a history buff, then this movie is for you. Settings are great as is the music. The actors are very good in portraying the difficulty of marriage when dealing with conflicting ideas.

Interesting description of the internal struggle of one of humanity's most important scientific figures.

An amazing movie showing the internal struggle of Charles Darwin around his publication of his book.

The movie was beautiful. But it may have been confusing to those who don't know Darwin's life around the time of his book's publication. Paul Bettany's performance is amazing. That alone is worth watching.

Jennifer is nice. The "story" stinks. A good cure for insomnia, though, because it put me to sleep.

It would have been a better movie if they show his life when he was out on the HMS Beagle. It had a few scenes that dragged on. I will try and read his books now. Something I should have done a number of years ago. A movie to rent.

Creation presents simultaneously and nicely two love stories. Action is not used to present Darwin’s intellectual quest, instead, nature, music and daily life of a family, birth and death at the time. Darwin’s health and his daughter’s health preoccupations are used as nature’s decision making. At the end, we have a different and smart interpretation of Darwin’s motivation to explain why some people die while others survive. If you want to watch a nice story unfold in front of you at reasonable pace with formidable acting, English decor and music, go watch the film. Take the time, to learn a new interpretation of Darwin’s life. She is very religious. He is not, but, he understands religions' intent. He loves her and she decides the faith of Darwin’s manuscript. She becomes an accomplice after learning about the facts.

This film chooses to show only 2 aspects of Darwin's life: his moral torment about writing or not about his scientific work, for fear of the social consequences (and his wife long opposed him about it), and his family life through those turbulent years. The film is not about how he reached his scientific conclusions (Beagle voyage, etc) If we see the film with a mindset that it tells about those 2 aspects, and not the other ones, it is a good movie. Very very good picture of England of the time. That could justify seeing the film, for some people. Family life is given a lot of importance, as is the value of women/girls. Overdramatization of Darwin's torment (hallucinations etc) can be irritating. The end is very strong and good. It made me forgive the downsides.

Creation is stunningly beautiful to look at, with a great score and wonderful acting. Apart from the backdrop story of how Darwin came to write his theory "On the Origin of the Species", this movie is an telling look at a soul tortured by grief, a marriage at the point of breakdown and triumph of the human spirit over adversity. Well worth seeing.

I must say I've been a fan of Jennifer Connelly and her husband Paul is a great actor. However, this movie is a portrayal of darwin as a man tortured by his beliefs at odds with his wife and the world. While this may have been partly true, that aspect of his life is not particularly entertaining. His research and discoveries and passion would have fared better. Nevertheless, even as a dramatic portrayal of the "burden" of the truth he discovered, it misses the audience quickly loosing them. The performances in theselves were good, the movie and script miss the mark. I wouldn't watch it and hence the grade.
