THE GIRL WHO PLAYED WITH FIRE comes off looking like a sophisticated, intelligent tele-movie. The sequel doesn't have the cinematic widescreen photography of the Vanger island from the first movie. What kept me watching were the diabolical twists and turns which lead into THE GIRL WHO KICKED THE HORNETS NEST. Once that film is released we have to start all over again with David Fincher's remakes. Looking at the story implications of Swedish society in the three novels I firmly believe Stieg Larsson's was murdered within the elite establishment of that country!

Good. Noomi Rapace still brilliant as Lisbeth Salander, but the production values was poorer than the first movie. It was, after all, made for TV rather than the big screen.

SPOILER. Great movie but not nearly as good as the first. The only part I don't understand is how does she escape from being buried 6 feet deep? She was buried in the middle of the night and we see her escape from her grave at dusk. You're telling me she was breathing underneath all that soil for 4 or so hours? AND she was shot 3 times.

The 2nd in a series of 3. This movie kept you on the edge of your seat. It explained alot of series of event from the first movie. I can hardly wait for the 3rd movie to out. If tho it was subtitled, you are so drawn to the movie that you don't realize you are reading also. Would highly recommend this series to everyone.

I really enjoyed the first movie but kept looking at my watch throughout the second as I could not wait for it to be over. It really was awful, and so utterly ridiculous at the end. Very disappointing.

"The Girl who played with Fire" only receives a "6 - not bad, could be )much ( better" simply because it has gone Hollywood with a feeble transparent ending, ridiculous (new) characters. I've seen the first movie three (3) times, I've seen this once and will definitely not see it again... sadly, I will go to the third movie... simply because I want to see how badly it will be denigrated... I can see it now... Lisbeth Solander, Mikael Blomkvist... NOW IN... 3D... I can only imagine how poor it will be :(

Excellent second part of a very well thoughtout thriller. I couldn't read the second line of the subtitles because of the sizing of the picture but then I'll watch it again on DVD. Yes the ending was incredible, Lisabeth was excellent as before and I can't think of anything negative to say about it. I see that the main villain escapes and will probably appear again in the third sequel so get ready for an assailant that even James Bond would have a problem with. I notice that Lisabeth is getting better at defending herself. Every girl should see this series and start taking Kick-Boxing Classes.

I can see that some of the reviewers were actually awake and alert during this sequel, which I may add was a far cry from the quality of the first. To begin with, the plot veers off in a direction that is entirely focused on Lisbeth (the girl with the tattoo) rather than the sex trade which is how the film opens; a couple of students trying to make a name for themselves with an in depth study of the sex trade. There are moments when things could heat up but the director this time fails to capitalize on the storyline and rather loosely spins together a tale that seems put together as the movie was being made. The appearance of and the relationship with the father which could have been interesting, seems to be more of a side note and not the impact event it actually was. And the brother, an interesting character but seems far-fetched in its believability.

This is an awesome movie. It has great acting. The plot has several twists and turns. It was very much a non-stereotypical Hollywood movie. It made me want to see the third and final movie. A must-see for any film buff.

Very bad movie, did not like. If they import foreign films, they should at least be good. This movie needs a kick to it. Not just because a girl who plays a hero and dresses in a dragon tatoo suppose to make me go wow.

I'll admit that I haven't read the books and only comment based on the movies. I thoroughly enjoyed the first movie and rushed out to see this one too. To me, this one seemed to miss something. I think the settings were too clean, too neat, almost surgical in their appearance. I'm curious how people who haven't seen the first movie take to this one or if watching depends on our knowing the characters already. The movie could have used more of the mystery and grit of the first installment. Still loved it and will rush out to the next, may even read the books as a summer thrill.

I thought the second movie was much weaker than the first!! I had thought that they would focus more on the sex slave part of the whole story since in the first movie it was such a focus to explore Lisbeth's own sexual exploitations. To show how horrible the sex trade industry is and how it effects its victims would have made this movie that much stronger. I thought the tie in with her father would have been interesting but seemed a little far fetched along with her brother and his ridiculous genetic abnormality!! Loved the 1st... 2nd well not bad but could have been much better!! Fingers crossed for the 3rd!

Both the first and the second movies keeps you on the edge of your seat. Not predictable at all. Totally watchable--even though for some more conservative moviegoers, the twisted sexual content & violence may leave them uncomfortable. The lead actors are totally watchable. Can't wait for the third movie!!

The first film was smart, it introduced us to a couple of very likable protagonists, and it kept us involved in the mystery up until its conclusion. This film does the opposite. If it wasn't for the likable cast, it would be a waste of time and I'd say," wait for the third film". The mystery is revealed as a plot twist in the third act so we feel left out and, sometimes bored. But it does involve Lisbeth's father and her upbringing as a teenager. This could have been great if it only would have kept us involved in what the characters were thinking. I felt left out and felt like even though this movie is good, it could have been a lot better.

The original movie " The Girl with the tatoo " was fantastic. This film "The Girl Who Played With Fire" has no storyline and was quite boring. It is the worst sequal I have ever seen. What a letdown.

"The Girl Who Played with Fire" is as excellent as the first movie "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo". I was pleasantly surprised to see this intriguing thriller/mystery - in swedish with english subtitle - and look forward to seeing the third part...

Loved this movie... as well as the first one. A real fete to transpose this book into only two hours. I found it helpful to have read the book... but my friend had not and enjoyed every bit as much.

Liked the first one more. Yet still, it was very good. Only read about half way into the book before going to see this movie. Surprisingly, I am liking the movie version more. Can't wait for the 3rd one to come out soon. It's been confirmed that Hollywood will go ahead and remake "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" with that guy who directed the movie "Seven". They're looking at both Daniel Craig and Selma Blair for the 2 leads. I think that might work if they stay true to the book versions and not Hollywood.

Better than the overly long book because it focuses on the characters we care about rather than the police investigators we do not care about. The whole middle of the novel is about the police discovering what we already know about Lizbeth Salander. But this movie is not as well directed as the first. And the film stock is grainy and murky, like it was video-recorded off a TV screen in places.

After seeing the first movie I had high expectations and they were met. If you haven't read the books or seen the first movie then some pieces will be missing but they do know how to transfer a good book into a suspenseful movie. Highly recommended especially for those who have read the books. Once again Noomi Rapace does an incredible job.

2nd in the Millenium trilogy this gives us abit more in depth background into what makes punk hacker Lisbeth Salander tick, as she carries out her war against those who have and will mistreat her. I strongly recommend you read all three books to gather all the incredible detail behind these characters from author Stieg Larsson's brillant three books.
