Nothing really happens; just drags on with some beautiful scenery and people trying to interact... everything is sooo forced in this film! Very forgettable.

I read the usual complaints about these kind of movies on this site (boring, slow, nothing happens, etc.), but this is just a sign of people weaned on the formulaic Hollywood pace of all the romantic movies out there. Leave nothing to the imagination, do everything over the top, tie everything up in a nice warm fuzzy ending. Well, this movie is NOT for those people. Sometimes less is more, and nowhere is that more evident than in this movie. Every little gesture, look and word communicates something and you end up caring deeply for these characters. The ending was beautiful and realistic. I loved it, and I am a 50 year old male. Great directing. Cairo is fascinating (the city almost plays a character in the movie) and for the ladies, Alexander Siddig is likely worth the price of admission all by himself.

Cairo Time is one of the most boring movie I've seen this year. It's is extremely slow, the story is non existent and the acting from Patricia Clarkson is mediocre. The only thing worth watching about this movie is the interesting city of Cairo.

A beautifully crafted movie. It does show the "bad" side of Cairo with a sugar coating. Having just been there, I was anxious to see this movie. It shows beautiful place and at the same time ugly city, in an idealized light. The hotel used in the movie, is one of the top hotels in the City and perhaps the world. That said, I still thoroughly enjoyed this subtle love story, set against a beautiful exotic backdrop and culture. I have seen this film maker's other full length film Sabah and loved it too. She is a talented story teller and director.

A very slow thoughtful movie. Wonderfully filmed and well acted. It took me about 15 minutes to get into the film and when I did it was worth it. Don't go if you like a lot of action but if you're a romantic it's well worth the price of the ticket.

For the most part, if I'm still digesting a movie the following day, it's usually a sign the film had something exceptional; directing, acting, story, etc. Cairo Time was on my mind the following day, but for different reasons; I couldn't figure out if the movie's theme "lost opportunities" was too subtle or if it was just poorly made. I may have to watch it again.

Cairo Time was eloquently understated and simmering with the "unseen". Great spiritual awakening with no obligatory Hollywood strip-tease to appease teenagers. This is a grown-up's slice of life and it's real and exotic at the same time. Ms Clarkson gave a great performance but it was her 'inner travelogue' that was unfolding that was as interesting as Cairo itself. EXCELLENT movie. When the credits rolled WOW! A Canadian film! Amen. It should get the Oscar for Best Foreign Film next year!

This movie sticks like honey. With all its nuance, all its visual glory (yet even this is more subtle than, say, Campion) the film continues to ooze into the pores after the credits. It's subliminal -- and I like it that way, sometimes. Man, Siddig is pretty.

I enjoyed this quiet yet meaningful movie. It was a pleasure to see subtlety and nuance portrayed in middle aged people, who were also intelligent, elegant people. Each was loyal to themselves and their own family values and culture. They showed restraint and yet love for each other, in a very real sence, not the usual physical side or even lust, which often stands in for real feelings. The photography showed portraits of the main characters as well of the landscape: both were beautiful and yet showing signs of lives well lived, in the general scheme of life's many sides; opportunities both taken and lost. A lovely yin and yang which pulls at your heart afterwords.

A lazy coffee-table book of a movie. Contrary to previous viewer, I do find the leads attractive, dressed to the nines with nowhere to go…other than sight-seeing in Cairo. After what seems to be an eternity of gazing, one fails to see who they are underneath. As for those who like sight-seeing, you might get more on travel or life-style channels.

Poor actress and actor selection (these are not beautiful people), mediocre cinemaphotography, painfully long close ups and a story line guaranteed to put you to sleep are all reasons I'm saving you from this tragedy of a film. Despite some epic location shots... the film falls far short on virtually every cateqory. When selling a Ford Escort, you don't highlight it's mediocre looks, the producers of this film evidently haven't learned this lesson as it applies to film making.

What I liked most about the movie is the theme of missed oppurtunities. Alexander missed the oppurtunity to marry the love of his live, his former girlfriend when he was young and he got the oppurtunity again, however he remounces. Patricia fall in love with Alexander but she decides to continue with her live with her husband who seems to care more about his job than his wife. Such is life, we miss oppurtunities and our life take a different course that will affect our happiness.

Enjoyed it thoroughly. Not only was it an honest presentation of Cairo life, but a wonderful depiction of personal relationships, where in the middle of seeming chaos, one can actually fall in love, both with the place and with its people. Subtle nuances and humor, were paramount in the success of this film. Alexander Saddiq gave such a winning performance and although Ms. Clarkson's seemed to be extremely slow in the beginning, one could see the purpose, when he/she viewed the obvious affect love has on a woman as it develops, thus revealing her true ability to act.

I always admire Patricia Clarkson’s works. That's why it makes me wonder why she’d take on such a nothing role… It's awkward to see her in such a role, dressed up like a doll, having not much to do while upstaged by the scenery and the leading man. Well, guess she gets paid well and a trip to Cairo.

What a stunningly beautiful film, armchair tourism at its best! Such a comfortable way for the audience to enjoy a mini-trip to Egypt, the Nile and the Pyramids without actually suffering the heat or getting sand in one's shoes. Alexander Siddiq has gobs of charisma and charm. Watching Patricia's Clarkson's stiff face, I wondered if a bit too much Botox, while preventing wrinkles, was also stopping facial expression. Just wondering...

A different kind of love story where Patricia Clarkson shows us acting at her best--The clothes she wears are beautiful as well as the scenery of Cairo--especially those scenes of the pyramids. This is a movie that is geared for all to see--it is rather long and dragged out.

Apart from a respected lead Patricia Clarkson and the Cairo setting, what is the film about? It seems like a mild travelogue (with a few underused beauty shots) about a devoted wife waiting for her husband to show up in Cairo and for no particular reason, other than perhaps boredom, gets sentimental with her husband friend. That’s the spirits of the western women?!. We get mild glimpses of the Arab world but really what is it trying to say? Why would Clarkson keep telling her husband she loves him while gazing soulfully at Alexander Shiddig other than the fact that he is well dressed exotic man? They have nothing in common. Clarkson’s character, who is supposed to be writer for a progressive woman mag, shows at best passing interest on a few local etiquettes, comes across as a rather shallow Western woman. With the star and the location, this might make an acceptable short film.
