It had the best animation technology, even though it was from a foreign country and an unpopular film company!

Disappointed by the predictable plot. It lacked humor that not only children like, but adults can appreciate. Characters were not memorable.

This movie has great potential, but glorifies the violence it is trying to advocate against. It felt as if they were trying to tell us how important it was to avoid fighting and that you could win battles without the fight - but the violence was so overwhelming as to lose the underlying message. Astro Boy had tons of potential, but fell short of the mark for me.

An awesome movie. I wasn't much of a fan of Astro in the past but after watching this I'm in love with the movie! I've seen it 4 times and plan on going to see it again. The emotions were so relatable, the animation was stunning... and I'm an animation student, the story was fun to follow, the characters were cute and all the voices were excellently cast... although Nicholas Cage was a bit awkward and emotionless as Tenma. All in all, a wicked movie that I love seeing again and again!

I watched a similar movie a long long time ago in Asia. I didn't like it very much. I watch this like when I was 4 years old. The characters are exactly the same as the ones years ago (except for Astro Boy's friends) Even the name Astro Boy was just translated. Don't get me wrong I just pointing out some things. The movie was ok overall.

This movie is a modernized version from the original cartoon. It's heartwarming and funny. It gives anyone young or old the concept of identifying differences and being true to yourself. It's a great movie.

I brought my son (5yrs old) to see the movie, he loved it so much. Lots of funny parts and emotional parts as well. I almost cried. Hi! Hi! Surely something I would recommend.

I think I'd really give this a 7.5. It is enjoyable, though its lessons and plot are more than a bit predictable. Still, certain aspects of the story - such as Astro's difficult relationship with his father - adds an adult and human dimension to the story that makes it a bit more than the typical kids' movie. For those of us who grew up with "Astro Boy", it stays fairly true to the spirit of the original.

This movie is an amazing accomplishment. The animation is unique and fresh. It's cute and iconic, yet intricate. The storyline is simple enough for school age children (I wouldn't take my 4 year old... too scary at times)with enough complexity and fun for adults (Soviet propaganda memorabilia in the junk-robot revolutionary headquarters, Descartes books, etc) Speaking for myself, a 35 year old man who has never tired of good cartoons, this was a real treat.

I went to this movie with my wife who remembers watching the Astro Boy series on t. v. when she was younger. She is also a big anime fan, so that prompted us to see the flick as well. In any case, the movie was actually quite entertaining. The animation was very well done, the storyline was what you'd expect from such a film, and the characters were simple and fun. Neither of us left the theater regretting having watched the film. There's no blood and guts, no cliched, miserable anti-heroes, no sexual innuendo or double entendre, no potty humor. Its just, good, clean entertainment. Take your kids and have some fun!

If you grew up with Astro Boy, you will like this movie! It's colorfoul and you get into the movie. Nicholas Cage and Donald Sutherland are impressive in those characters.

It's a great memory for all mid 80s but I guess its mainly shooting for kids... A little dumb I would say and it could be much better if its made of more techniques and fightings.

As a fan of the genre, and having seen some of the original, I love the new updated version of Astro Boy. It's energetic and heartwarming, capturing the spirit of the original while making it into a more modern and moving piece. I'd love this Astro Boy to find it's way to a new TV series.

This movie is the only movie I have ever walked out of in my life. When on opening night there are only 7 people in the audience it says something for the movie. Although I don't know the ending I don't care to, twenty minutes in I was willing to pay someone to just let me leave. I wish this rating system allowed -5, the only thing that could have made the movie somewhat tolerable is if I had of brought a flask into the theatre in order to numb my thoughts. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. True Astroboy fans will be sadly dissapointed.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.]
It was sad because the human boy, Toby, dies. It was silly how the bad robot, Peacemaker, sucked up Toby and he disappeared forever and how Peacemaker sucked up the president, but he lived. It was weird and sad. I'm 8 years old and I did not like this movie. I almost started to cry at the movie, Astro Boy.
